All the Holes Line Up Poems and Translations by Zackary Sholem Berger

Zackary Sholem Berger is a poet, a Yiddish translator, a doctor. In this volume, he is also an observant Jew visiting other people's holy places and an American city dweller among the poets of pre-War Vilna and Yiddish-speaking Tel Aviv. Berger's observations and language are precise as a lancet and his observations are therapeutically acute. This volume showcases him at the height of his powers.

“Spare and precise, Berger’s poems in All the Holes Line Up gaze unflinchingly at—but also celebrate—human imperfection in its many forms.  And what a delight that Berger also includes in this collection a handful of his resonant translations of some of the great Yiddish poets.”
