Sciadopitys verticillata 'Green Parasol'
Japanese Umbrella Pine
Zones 5-9
'Green Parasol’ is an unusual Japanese umbrella pine with short dense compact needles and a compact conical shape. These short needles give ‘Green Parasol’ a fun texture in the garden. ‘Green Parasol’ may reach 4-5 ft in height in 10 years. According to many Sciadopitys experts like Olav Kalleberg of Norway, ‘Green Parasol’ may be the same as ‘Sternschnuppe’ as both are believed to be tetraploids with similar habits. Photos of stock plants at Dennis Dodge’s garden appear to be identical. As plants may have different origins, we continue to label them from the plants they were grafted from.
Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
